Book Of Joshua: My Understanding

The Book of Joshua was a continued mission of God. Joshua was protected, never left nor forgotten. Joshua is the one who led the people of Isreal to a land flowing with milk and honey. It was important to be strong and courageous. Their journey led to an overflow of blessings and the ultimate test of faith. There were rivers to cross and vast grassland. The Lord lifted up the waters for them to cross the Jordan on dry ground.

Lesson: Trust a man or woman of God who speaks, practice and encourage others to believe the impossible. The Lord helped build a strong reputation for Joshua throughout the land. It seemed impossible to do alone but Joshua had faith.

This book also discusses how the Lord told the 12 Israelites to create a memorial of Stones for future generations like us. God knew we would want to see proof since the sins would blind us spiritually. We would ask what was the stones for. They piled 12 stones from the Jordan river for proof that God lifted the sea waters so they could cross.

In Jericho, God gave the Israelites a mission to take over the town. The Ram’s horn would be the calling to go to take over the land. The Arc of the Lord was carried with them on their journey. During the time of their destruction of Jericho, they were instructed to not take any gold, silver, iron or because it was heavenly treasures. Individuals within the Israelites decided to sneak and steal God’s treasure by burying them in the ground.

Lesson: God knows our every move because we are apart of God. Instead of going to each person who lied, and stole God’s possession privately, God called every single Israelite. The Lord called out each Tribe that had a guilty man. The clan within the tribe was then called, followed by the guilty man family. The guilty person within that family was finally be called out. In modern day, people would call that embarrassing to be called out in front of everyone.

In 2017, on this beautiful summer day, we share the same belief as our ancestors. You know the common saying “you represent your family, job, business, city, state, country, the human race, and most of all a being of God. God has given us commandments, laws, rules, and scriptures to help us follow a righteous path. Next, it states after the family of the thieves was stoned to death, the lord was no longer angry. To my understanding, the Lord poured his wrath on them. You reap what you sow. However, their consequences were more brutal in the ancient days.

The word got out about the Israelites journey of taking over lands. The people of Gibeon was so afraid of dying, they deceived the Israelites. Joshua got deceived because he didn’t consult with the Lord before making a treaty with them. Joshua was so committed to the Lord, they did not kill the towns due to the promise they made. Their oath was made in the name of the Lord. The people of Gibeon was cursed but not killed.

Lesson: We are guilty of taking action before consulting the Lord and experience the same thing of Joshua in 2017. All because he didn’t put God first, he got tricked. We must make sure we build a personal relationship with God so the enemy can’t deceive us anymore.

The act of God: A miraculous event occurred where the lord allowed the sun to stay in the middle of the sky and didn’t set like a normal day. It was from a prayer Joshua made in order to defeat the enemy. Wow!

The Book of Jashar was mentioned for the first time ever. This is amazing to see how the Bible has led me to another book of God during my God first mission. The book of Joshua taught a lot of lessons about discipline, leadership, loyalty, strength, and faith.

It is time for us to listen to that still voice from within and follow our intuition or spirit. You were created for a purpose. Live out that purpose.

Catrina’s Understanding of Leviticus 1-13

The Lord start giving instructions on how to sacrifice your sins the beginning of Leviticus.

I noticed the Lord had different spiritual instuctions depending on the type of sins or offerings requested. There was 5 original offerings and most were voluntary. It’s interesting to know it was normal to kill a living animal to offer it as a meat offering. One reason for this is because the Lord love the sweet savour in the air. This reminds me when we to to grandma house while she cooking some good ol soul food on Sunday. Those who have a joy for cooking has a gift for God. Listening to Leviticus 1-13 help me realize how much God love the sweet, delicious smell of food. That explain why there is a deep-rooted tradition of soul food and praying before everyone eat. We are in the house of the lord, therefore we must learn how to satisfy the Lord in all aspects of our lives.

It was very important for people to prepare their sacrifices properly. For example, their would be instructions for peace offerings. If someone sinned against God’s law, a priest would make an atonement for them. A ruler would have to bring a goat as a sin offering. The vantage point to focus on in the 21st century is where, what and how do God want us to prepare our different offerings?

If a soul sin, he must bear his iniquity. If a soul touch the uncleaness of man, he should be guilty.  These particular scripture reminds me of modern day laws. If you are in the company of bad people when caught, you can get caught up with their bad experiences. There was trepass offerings as well. What do you think about when you hear trepass? Reading through the bible shows how much God really care for his people. By having instructions, wisdom, knowledge and revelation allow us to live life more abundantly on earth. This scripture also gave me the inner, over and understanding of why people today sacrifice to the Lord along with know Jesus Christ was the ultimate sacrifice. I’ve seen people sacrifice eating their favorite foods, material things, time and more. I’m committed to find the Lord’s way to sacrifice for my sins. Do you think the Lord still expect us to have sin, peace, burnt, grain and trespass offerings? Why or why not?

It is so true that everything already happened under the sun. Today, it’s a matter of praying, mediating and listening for God’s answer on how he want us to sacrifice for our sins. I pray that the Lord forgive us of our sins known and Unknown. Eventhough, the bible gave instructions before Christ for sin offerings, we still need to cleanse our heart, spirit and soul today in the 21st century. Some reasons they sacrificed for the Lord was for intentional sin, unintentional sin, or thanksgiving and freewill. I’m falling in love with the almighty more more everyday.

God 1st Challenge: Understanding of Genesis 26-50

I am blessed and thankful that God has created us in his image.
They say that everything we are experiencing during this lifetime has already happened under the sun. The story of Jacob really stood out to me. To my understanding, the spirit of jealousy, impatience, lies, and dishonesty was created around this time. Great things also happened during this time because God spirit never left.

Jacob was told by his mother to trick his father into blessing him instead of his brother Esau. He knew that it wasn’t right to lie to his father but still lied to him. Jacob reaped struggles in his years working to marry Rachel. Her father tried to hustle and get over on him. During this time in the story, I realized that Jacob asks God for the forgiveness of his wrong-doing in his past. Throughout all the sinful things that Jacob and his family did, God still forgave him. We will all walk through the shadow of the valley of death. Even when we slip and fall, we must recognize, repent, forgive and ask for forgiveness.
Now even though God forgave Jacob, the sin was passed down to the next generation. I noticed Jacob favored his son Joseph more than the rest. Joseph older brothers became jealous of him. Joseph suffered when they sold him to slavery, but he kept a pure heart with God. God protected over Joseph through his prison years.
Due to Joseph patience and pure heart, God blessed him and his family tremendously. Joseph was blessed with fortunes such as land, riches, and glory. Joseph still remained humbled when he caught up with his brothers who sold him. It proves that being humble, praying, repenting and standing firm through the trials and tribulations is the best way to live life right by God. I’m honored to know that the Bible is the core instructions before leaving earth. It is exciting to learn more about God.
